What is Netrinos Edge?
A remote gateway for reaching devices on customer networks
The Edge Node turns a Linux device into a gateway. Install it on a customer's network, and you can reach their cameras, NVRs, printers, and other devices from your office, without modifying their routers or firewalls. It handles NAT, subnet conflicts, and port forwarding, all within an encrypted WireGuard tunnel.
When to Use Edge
Edge is designed for service providers who manage equipment on customer networks. Typical scenarios:
- A security integrator needs to access cameras and NVRs at 200 customer sites
- An MSP needs to reach servers and workstations behind customer firewalls
- Multiple customer sites use the same 192.168.1.x subnet, and you need to reach specific devices on each one
How It Works
The edge device connects to the customer's LAN via Ethernet. It obtains a DHCP address, contacts the Netrinos server, and pulls its configuration. No changes to the customer's router or firewall are required, all connections are outbound.
From your office, you access customer devices through port forwards configured in the edge device's web interface. Each forwarded port is mapped within the encrypted tunnel and is never exposed to the public internet.
You can preconfigure edge devices and ship them to customers for self-installation. Ethernet and power is all they need.
Shared Features
Edge includes everything in the standard Netrinos client. Features like access control, virtual devices, and gateways are documented in the Help Center. This section covers what Edge adds: NAT, port forwarding, and remote network management.
